Ville d’art et d’histoire (City of art and history)
Hear the story of Saint-Etienne! Accompanied by a guide who is a Ville d’Art et d’Histoire lecturer, certified by the ministry of culture and communication, the tours provided take in the city’s main focal points: Tours last for 1 and a half to 2 hours.
For groups (minimum 20 people), these tours are available all year round if booked.
For individuals, Ville d’Art et d’Histoire provides a schedule of guided tours all year round. Guided tours are proposed each first Sunday of month (free guided tours, no registration required), every 3rd Sunday of month “Discover St-Etienne from the 7 hills” (tour back in october), and many other themes for this summer.

As a legendary stadium with its extraordinary supporters, the “Chaudron vert” (green cauldron) will reveal its secrets to you.
Come and discover how the main premises work (stands, boxes, reception rooms, press gallery) and go down the famous “tunnel” to the pitch … Departure from: in front of main doorway, 14 rue Paul et Pierre Guichard (the changing rooms are not open to visitors).
This visit is available for groups all year round when booked (20 people minimum).For individuals, it is available as part of the program of visits for individuals between April and October. There are a limited number of places available, so registration is required at the tourist office.

The Centre d’Etudes et de Recherches du Patrimoine Industriel (CERPI) (centre for research and studies into the industrial heritage) offers theme-based visits: along the canal, the Dorlay valley, to the remains of old mine workings, industries (metallurgy, textiles, glassworks) and along railway tracks. These tours are rounded off with visits to monuments, museums and other sites…
